I do not know but it does not seem like it is very good for you and my friend Nick has stopped drinking so much at last which I am very grateful for but he still does get drunk when he does have some wine and then he is very annoying so I wish he would not.

Good for Nick! You must be quite a good friend and support. I don't drink so much, I am from the continent! My biggest excess usually hardly matches a quick one in the pub for most original Brits...
I always say that moving from the continent to London (lived in many countries but originally Spanish, you know, those who are doing well at sports this year!) was pretty much smooth in comparison to everything I had been warned about. No real cultural shock overall just 2 things I still can't get used to:
1) how much people drink. I work in the City and am amazed to see suit people absolutely hammered by 7pm. Moreover girls/women being in quite a state. My forst day at work in London I remember seeing these girls with shoes in their hands hardly walking straight, speaking very loudly obviously very drunk and laughing at their friend/colleague who was puking in the bushes right next to the cab line. It was 7.30!!!
Don't get me wrong: in Europe people do get drunk... eventually. But it is not a goal before the first drink. Usually the moment they get drunk in a way that shows their friends send them home. And for a girl to be drunk in public? This would be the worst thing ever. Not just bad but dangerous as well. A drunk girl is hidden til she feels better and escorted home safely...
2) Young women wearing almost nothing when going out even in December when it is so so cold. And everytime I mention it I get the same comment: "you should see them in the northern cities"!!! Scary! -
Because you can. There need be no more reason!
